Day 2 - Neot Kedumim and Zion Gate Ceremony |
| Posted by () on Jan 29 2009 |

The first place we went was Neot Kedumim.

Almond Blossoms. The almond is the first plant to bloom and the last for the nuts to mature. Aaron's staff was made of almond wood.

We all planted an almond tree a piece.

We were told that we could keep any pottery shards we found while planting our almond trees. John Turner found a piece of roofing tile that Moshe said probably dated to the time of Joshua.

This is a sistern that was uncovered at Neot Kedumim. We had a demonstration of just how difficult a task it was when Rebekkah volunteered to provide water for 10 camels.

Ronit shows us how to make Zahtar from the local plants.

At the sight of an ancient wine press, the Maccabees built a church during the Byzantine era.

Zechariah and our Neot Kedumim guide Ronit.

Zechariah is a Torah scribe. He uses the traditional methods of ink made from pomegranite, and pens made from reeds and feathers.

A 200 year old Torah Scroll. This was opened to sanctify the covenant that Moshe presented between his Ancient Pathways group and the Father's House Educational Foundation.

Armo Bentley wearing the Priestly Ephod as part of opening the Torah Scroll.

Moshe signing the covenant with the traditional reed.

Rick Hamm, Moshe's partner in Ancient Pathways, signs the covenant.

Byron Stinson signs the covenant.

Later we went to the Zion Gate of the Old City and had a ceremony to celebrate the covenant that Moshe had presented earlier.

More of the group in ceremonial attire.
It was a long day but well worth it.
